Raising questions over construction of Commonwealth Games Village and Akshardham Temple on the banks of the Yamuna River, Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh said the former should not have been given environmental clearance while the Temple never even applied for it.

In a statement, the ministry said the rise in the number of total recovered cases from 1 lakh in June 2020 has been steep and the last 10 lakh recoveries were added in just 11 days.
'India has registered the highest recoveries in a single day. 68,584 COVID-19 patients have recovered and been discharged in the last 24 hours. 'This has led to a surge in the total number of recovered patients which is nearly 30 lakh (2,970,492). 'With this, India's Recovery Rate amongst the COVID-19 patients has crossed 77 per cent (77.09 per cent), the govt said.
With 17,51,555 people defeating the disease, the recovery rate has surged to 71.17 per cent.
The total recoveries have climbed to 8,17,208, while there are 4,40,135 active cases of coronavirus in the country at present, the govt said as the COVID-19 tally surged to 12.87 lakh.
The second wave of the pandemic has not only crippled medical infrastructure in terms of hospital beds, but has also led to bottlenecks in invasive ventilators and medical oxygen capacities and supplies.
