Exercise Cope India brings together the Indian Air Force and the United States air force to promote mutual understanding and cooperation between the two air forces.
As part of the Cope India 2023 exercise, five top-notch fighter jets of the two air forces took off in quick succession from the air force base.
The exercise was aimed at validating joint plans for strategic airlift of specialised forces employing IAF's fixed and rotary wing platforms by landing and dropping in designated areas for undertaking kinetic actions, they said.
The American platforms at the exercise 'Cope India' that started off Kalaikunda will also include a fleet of F-15 E fighter jets, C-130 and C-17 transport aircraft.

Pitching for a robust Indo-US military ties, US Ambassador to India Timothy J Roemer said on Monday that America is ready to support India's drive to modernise its armed forces. "The United States is ready to support India in its drive to modernise its armed forces," Roemer said, inaugurating the five-day Cope India 2009 joint air exercises in Agra.
A five-day joint exercise involving the Indian Air Force and the United States Air Force transport aircraft, Cope India-09, will be held at Agra from October 19.
A senior officer of the United States Air Force on Monday said his country was happy to see the issue of the US aircraft detained in Mumbai being sorted out quickly.Responding to queries during a press conference held on the sidelines of the Indo-US joint Air Force exercise, Ex-Cope India 2009 in Agra, the Defense Attache of the US Embassy in New Delhi, Colonel Stuart Kowward, said the issue has been sorted out and the officials were waiting for a final signal from India.

IAF versus USAF: the air exercises begin
Japan could soon be the second country after the US with which India has a logistics support agreement. Besides the LSA, India and Japan may also sign a maritime domain awareness agreement which would enable the two navies to share information. For example, if a Japanese P-1 maritime patrol aircraft detects a Chinese submarine in the Indian Ocean, it would pass on the information to the Indian Navy, reveals Ajai Shukla.
