The Election Commission has ordered a repoll in a booth in Assam's Karimganj (North) constituency following clashes between BJP and Congress supporters during the recent assembly elections.
Repolling is being held in five polling stations of four constituencies of Assam where an estimated 26 per cent voting was recorded till 12 noon Wednesday.
The repoll will be held from 7 am to 4 pm, the Election Commission said on Tuesday.
The announced election schedule for five assemblies reveals fewer phases, a condensed voting period, longer gaps between polling days, and a delayed counting process compared to previous elections.
In a statement, the EC said the presiding officer and three other officials have been placed under suspension.
