Former Mumbai Police Commissioner Julio Ribeiro has dashed off a letter to the Maharashtra government expressing surprise over the appointment of four "tainted" senior Indian Police Service officers to key posts. The letter, addressed to Home Minister R R Patil, not only questions the appointment of Himanshu Roy, Ramrao Pawar, Deputy CPs Ajit Patil and Sanjay Banerjee.
A model allegedly committed suicide at her residence in suburban Goregaon in Mumbai, the police said on Friday. Rinki Chowdhary was found hanging by her friend in the kitchen at her residence in Vallabh Apartment on Thursday evening, Additional Commissioner of Police Ramrao Pawar said. No suicide note was found and her boyfriend was being questioned, he said. According to the police, Chowdhary had gone to the kitchen while her companion was sitting in the hall.
