Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton will race triple Olympic cycling gold medallist Chris Hoy around Wembley Stadium next month as a warm-up for the Race of Champions event, organisers said on Tuesday. However, 23-year-old Hamilton will be at the wheel of a Mercedes road car while Hoy will be pedalling a cycle on a parallel track constructed over the turf of the national soccer stadium.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Tuesday arrived in Jharkhand to a black flag protest by Bharatiya Janata Party activists over price rise, as police arrested nearly 100 of them in Ranchi and Bokaro. Earlier, the BJP had announced that it would hold black-flag and effigy burning protests across the state to protest against the Prime Minister's visit, in view of spiraling prices. The Bokaro police picked up approximately 25 BJP activists.

E-waste is likely to increase to 800,000 tonnes by 2012, up from 150,000 tonnes in 2005, mainly due to high economic growth and increased use of electronic appliances in the country. The government has put in place guidelines to handle the e-waste so that it has no adverse impact on either health or environment. Import of hazardous materials like copper was allowed only for the recycling and direct use and not for dumping. The government has been monitoring the imports.
