A family in Thane, Maharashtra, was allegedly defrauded of over Rs 1.66 crore by a man who exploited their fear of black magic, promising divine remedies through rituals and pilgrimages.
Jailed gangster Ravi Pujari has been arrested by Thane Police in connection with a 2017 extortion and firing case. He was produced before a special MCOCA court and remanded in police custody until March 27.
A Thane resident allegedly bit off a part of his friend's ear and even swallowed it after the two got into an argument at a party. The incident occurred in a posh housing society in the Patlipada area on Wednesday morning. The victim, Shravan Leekha (37), said that he and the accused, Vikas Menon (32), were partying with friends when the two got into an altercation. Menon suddenly became violent and bit off a part of his ear and swallowed it, alleged Leekha. Police have booked Menon for voluntarily causing grievous hurt.
'The incident took place around 4.30 am on Monday near a hotel on Ghodbunder Road, where the woman had gone to meet Gaikwad. An argument broke out between the two. Later, when the victim collected her belongings from his car and started leaving, the one who was driving the vehicle tried to mow her down, due to which she fell down and suffered serious injuries'
