The prime accused in the murder of Telulgu Desam Party legislator Paritvala Ravindra was brutally murdered in the Anantapur district jail in the wee hours of Sunday by another inmate. While Andhra Pradesh Home Minister K Jana Reddy described the murder a result of a fight between two undertrials locked in the same barrack, the opposition has alleged that Julakunti Srinivas Reddy alias Muddu Seenu's murder was a political conspiracy.

Mufti Abu Basher, who was arrested earlier this month by Uttar Pradesh police in connection with the Ahmedabad serial bomb blasts, was also involved in the blast in Lumbini Park in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh Home Minister K Jana Reddy said. After a high level review meeting at the state Secretariat, the home minister told the reporters that after questioning Basher, the state police officials were convinced that he was responsible for the blast at Lumbini Park.
