Observing that persons regardless of popularity are equal before the law, the Supreme Court on Thursday cancelled the bail granted to actor Darshan and other accused in the Renukaswamy murder case.
Kannada film actor Darshan Thoogudeepa has been granted bail by the Karnataka High Court in the Renukaswamy murder case. The actor, along with his friend Pavithra Gowda and seven others, was arrested in June for allegedly killing Renukaswamy, a fan, for sending obscene messages to Pavithra Gowda.
According to police sources, Renukaswamy (33) drew the wrath of Darshan for making lewd comments against Pavithra Gowda on her social media posts.
Leading Kannada film actor Darshan Thoogudeepa was arrested on Tuesday in connection with the murder of a man who allegedly made "derogatory" comments against his close friend, police sources said.
A court in Bengaluru on Saturday extended the police custody of Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa along with his friend Pavithra Gowda and eleven others, who are accused in connection with the Renukaswamy murder case, by five more days.
Renukaswamy's father Kashinath S Shivanagoudru claimed that the developments have had adverse effect on their pregnant daughter-in-law these days.

The actor is currently in judicial custody in the Renukaswamy murder case.
