A section of lawyers on Thursday moved the Calcutta high court, seeking suo motu contempt proceedings against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her comments against the judiciary on August 14. A division bench, comprising Chief Justice J N Patel and Justice Joymalyo Bagchi, refused to start suo motu proceedings against Banerjee after the matter was mentioned before it.
Also directed the company not make any financial transaction till further orders.
Former Board of Control for Cricket in India chief Sharad Pawar wants Justice J N Patel, who is part of a three-man probe panel set up by the Board to investigate the IPL corruption scandal, to come clean on his reported links with the body's interim president, Shivlal Yadav. He also deprecated the presence of former India captain Ravi Shastri on the inquiry committee, citing conflict of interest.
The panel had earlier summoned Pawar in 2020, but he could not appear before it due to the coronavirus-induced lockdown. Later, another summons was issued to Pawar for appearing before the commission on February 23 and 24 this year, but the senior politician had sought a fresh date, saying he wanted to file an additional affidavit before recording his testimony.
Faced with a credibility crisis arising out of the IPL spot-fixing and betting scandal, the BCCI has suggested to the Supreme Court a three-member committee made up of eminent persons to probe the corruption case on the directives of the apex court.
The last hearing was conducted on November 15, 2021.
There was a lot of drama at the BCCI's emergent working committee meeting in Mumbai on Sunday as an altercation between secretary Sanjay Patel and former president Shashank Manohar led to the former walking out of the meeting.
The Supreme Court asked the Justice Mudgal Committee whether it is willing to further probe Srinivasan and 12 others, including some prominent cricketers, in the IPL spot-fixing and betting scandal.

Apart from Sharad Pawar, the commission will also record the evidence of the then superintendent of police (Pune Rural) Suvez Haq, then additional SP, Sandip Pakhale and the then additional commissioner, Pune, Ravindra Sengaonkar, between February 21 and February 25.
A bench headed by Justice A K Patnaik, which had suggested that the probe be conducted by the Justice Mudgal Committee, reserved the order after the Board of Control for Cricket in India and Srinivasan opposed further investigation by the committee and pleaded for setting up a fresh panel.
Pawar filed an additional affidavit before the probe panel on April 11, a copy of which was made available on Thursday.
Pawar recorded his testimony before the commission in Mumbai in connection with the January 2018 violence at the Koregaon Bhima war memorial in Pune district of Maharashtra.
