Jailed gangster Ravi Pujari has been arrested by Thane Police in connection with a 2017 extortion and firing case. He was produced before a special MCOCA court and remanded in police custody until March 27.
The crime branch had arrested Aditya Gayaki (19), Siddharth Yenpure (20), Samarth Pomaji (18), Swapnil Sakat (23) and Asaram Fasale, who had allegedly provided a scooter and other logistic support and weapons to the shooter, the official said.
Iqbal, who was deported from the United Arab Emirates in 2003, is said to be operating his brother's real estate business.
Gangster and Mumbai serial blasts mastermind Dawood Ibrahim's brother Iqbal Kaskar has been taken into custody by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in a drugs case, the agency said on Wednesday.
The police alleged that Kaskar and his associates had been threatening a prominent builder in Thane, in Dawood's name since 2013 and extorted Rs 30 lakh and four flats from him.
Singh asked for information about cricket bookies in India and also threatened to arrest him in a "big case" along with his family members, he claimed.
