In a blow to the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena's apparent attempt to score brownie points over its arch rival Shiv Sena, the Bombay high court on Friday refused to grant permission to the Raj Thackeray-led party to hold a public meeting at Shivaji Park in central Mumbai.

The agency quizzed chief executive officer of Loop Telecom Sandip Basu and chairman of Sistema Shyam Teleservices Rajiv Mehrotra in connection with the scam, official sources said.

Surender Singh won the men's 3000 metres gold as the Indian athletes returned a rich a haul of nine medals at the Asian Grand Prix in Suzhou, China, on Saturday. Apart from Surender's gold, four Indians finished second in their events while four others grabbed third spots. In the men's 3000m, Surender finished in 7:59.52 seconds, while team-mates Ravinder and Sandip Kumat Batham followed him in second and third positions respectively.
