Sixteen-year-old Arjun Vajpai, who became the youngest Indian to conquer Mount Everest on May 21, 2010, is being rushed to Delhi after he fell ill during an expedition. "Arjun Vajpai's expedition to Mount Cho Oyu and Mount Shishamangma has been called off due to Arjun's ill health. Arjun has returned to the advance base camp and he is being attended by the doctor," said his mother Priya Vajpai.

Chhewang Nima, a Nepalese Sherpa famous in mountaineering circles for climbing the Mount Everest 19 times, has gone missing after being struck by an avalanche while nearing the peak of Mount Baruntse in Nepal. Chhewang was leading an expedition of seven people when he went missing on Saturday, said Sherpa Shangri-la Treks and Expedition, the company for which he worked.He was fixing ropes at an elevation of 7,045 metres while guiding the expedition.

A 16-year-old Delhi school boy on Saturday had a brief tryst with destiny, equaling the world record of being the youngest to step atop the world's highest peak, only to have his feat overturned hours later by a 13-year-old American. Arjun Bajpayee, became the youngest Indian to climb the 8,848 metre Mount Everest early today morning via the traditional South Col route in Nepal. He equaled the record of Nepalese boy, Sherpa Temba Tsheri, who also climbed the peak.
