An overhead television camera suspended by cables crashed to the ground in the Olympic Park on Monday, lightly injuring at least three people among the crowds below, the latest in a string of mishaps to hit South America's first Games. A TV news report showed two of the injured looking dazed, sitting on the ground near the heavy black camera housing. One woman, bleeding from her head as medics arrived, was taken away on a stretcher. The other walked from the scene wearing a neck brace.

Premier League-based trio Diego Costa, Juan Mata and Santi Cazorla were among a high-profile list of absentees when Spain coach Vicente Del Bosque named his provisional 25-man squad for Euro 2016 on Tuesday. Costa injured his hamstring against Liverpool in Chelsea's penultimate game of the season. Atletico Madrid striker Fernando Torres was also absent from the squad despite his improved form towards the end of the season, as were Arsenal midfielder Cazorla and Valencia forward Paco Alcacer, Spain's top scorer in their qualifying campaign.

Bahrain could replace Australia as 2010 Formula One season-opener while Canada may also reappear on the calendar, BMW-Sauber boss Mario Theissen said on Thursday. Australia has hosted the season-opener since 1996, although Bahrain took the slot in 2006 when the Melbourne race was moved back to avoid a clash with the Commonwealth Games in the same city.
