Former captain Rajpal Singh got the axe as Hockey India named an 18-member squad for the London Olympics qualifier, to be held at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, in Delhi, from February 18 to 26. Experienced midfielders Vikram Pillay and Arjun Halappa also failed to find a place in the squad, which will be led by goalkeeper Bharat Chetri.

Anjani Malik, a resident of Haryana, was not able to catch a flight from Kullu to Delhi in March last year and was told to wait for the next day, the exercise which lasted for four days at at a stretch. After the harassment, he decided to return to the capital at his own costs. Malik then approached the District Consumer Forum, Sheikh Sarai, claiming Rs 50,000 compensation following which the airlines was asked to pay Rs 30,000.

Charter operator Club One Air is going to launch its domestic low-cost operations next year at prices 50 per cent below those currently charged by charters. Thus a Delhi-Kullu chartered flight, which costs Rs 60,000 per person at present, would cost Rs 30,000 once Club One Air starts flying.
