Under the terms of a $42 million three-year agreement, the tournament will feature record prize money of $4.45 million -- equal to the men's season-ending event, the Tennis Masters Cup.
The singles winner's prize of $1.485 million will be the largest in women's tennis, organisers said on Friday.
Bangalore, Istanbul and Monterrey had been other contenders to stage the event.
