Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's post on Instagram

PV Sindhu became the first Indian to win a gold medal at the BWF World Championships on Sunday after trouncing Japan's Nozomi Okuhara 21-7, 21-7 in the final in Basel on Sunday.

Leading the congratulatory messages from the film industry for the ace shuttler were Aamir Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

"CONGRATULATIONS dearest P V Sindhu our World Champion. So SO PROUD of YOU GOD BLESS Always JAI HIND," Aishwarya wrote on Instagram along with a photograph with the new world champion.

"Congratulations PV Sindhu you make us so proud! Respect. a," Aamir Khan wrote on his Instagram account.

Congratulations @Pvsindhu1 for winning the Gold at the BWF World Championships... Making us proud as a nation with your exceptional talent. Keep creating history!" Shah Rukh Khan tweeted.

Veteran actor Anil Kapoor also showered praises on Sindhu on her win.

"Breaking records and creating history! Congratulations  @Pvsindhu1 on the amazing performance and on becoming the 1st Indian ever to win the BWF World Championships!

Making India proud! #BWFWorldChampionships2019."

"What a proud moment for India. Congratulations @Pvsindhu1 on this amazing achievement of becoming the first Indian ever to win a gold at the #BWFWorldChampionship! #WhoRunTheWorld," tweeted filmmaker Karan Johar.

Telegu super star Mahesh Babu left a note on Instagram, writing: "Indelible moment to celebrate. She is our golden queen! Congratulations @pvsindhu1 on this memorable win!! Extremely proud. #BadmintonWorldChampionships #BWFWC2019 #PVSindhu."

Playback singer Sonu Nigam also put out a message through Instagram: "What a proud moment for India.. P V Sandhu (sic) First Ever Indian Badminton Champion of the World. God bless India. Kudos.. #badminton #worldchampion #indiashinning #congratsindia."
