Rain forced organisers to abandon play at Wimbledon on Wednesday with 19 scheduled matches either unfinished or yet to start.

Top seed Roger Federer [Images] was two sets and two games up against Argentine Juan Martin del Potro when rain sent them off at 1546 GMT. Drizzle fell for much of the rest of the afternoon and officials finally called it a day when a cloudburst drenched the All England [Images] Club.

The weather was forecast to be finer for Thursday.
