India, Japan, Germany and Brazil, known as the group of four, are apparently reviving their efforts for getting permanent seats in an expanded Security Council ahead of the United Nations General Assembly's annual session in September.

The four countries have sought a new debate in the Assembly on the expansion of the 15-member Council, which will be held on July 20 and would be attended by world leaders.

The discussion has been fixed on the request of 'some delegations, including the G-4 delegations', spokesperson for the Assembly Pragati Pascale said on Wednesday.

Asked if there was any new development, she said they wanted further discussions.
