Singapore doctors were on Tuesday preparing to separate conjoined South Korean twins, sources said.

The surgery will take place at the Raffles Hospital, where Iranian twins Ladan and Laleh Bijani died two weeks ago after an operation to separate them failed.

But the chances of success for separating Min Sa-rang and her sister Ji-hye, who were born joined at the spine on March 3, are said to be higher since they are still infants.

Around 12 doctors, including neurosurgeon Keith Goh, who led the operation on the Iranian twins, will undertake the operation, which is expected to take at least 10 hours, the sources said.
