More than two decades after his death, militant leader Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale has been declared a martyr by the Damdami Taksal.

Bhindranwale, the cleric-turned-militant leader, was killed on June 6, 1984 by the Indian

army in Operation Blue Star while flushing out armed militants from the Golden Temple premises in Amritsar.

Damdami Taksal is a Sikh religious organisation founded by Guru Gobind Singh to impart knowledge of Gurmat to Sikhs all over the world.
