A moderate intensity earthquake on Thursday rocked the Nicobar Islands in the Bay of Bengal, the Metereological Depatment said in New Delhi.
The earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale occured at 0514 hours IST, with its epicentre at 6.9 north latitude and 92.4 east longitude, the department said in a statement.
