Former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee will go on a weeklong holiday to Pirni, Manali, starting mid-June.

He has been spending a week at this hill resort in Himachal Pradesh every year after becoming PM.

During a meeting with former Himachal chief minister Shanta Kumar, Vajpayee said he would reach Pirni on June 11 or 12.

"He is going to Manali, but the dates have not been firmed up as yet," Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson Prakash Javdekar told rediff.com on Tuesday.

The ex-PM will go only after the BJP national executive in New Delhi this month.

"The general feeling in the party is that since members of Parliament will be present in Delhi due to the Lok Sabha session till June 10, it will be in order if the national executive meets on June 11 and June 12," said a party leader.

Vajpayee's presence at the national executive will be of paramount importance, as it will be the first such conclave after the BJP's debacle in the general election.

"We will know about the dates of the national executive only on Wednesday, but they can be adjusted keeping in mind Vajpayee's convenience. The national executive will be held anytime between June 10 and 25," Javdekar said.

Namita Bhattacharya, Vajpayee's foster daughter, her husband Ranjan and a team of Special Protection Group attached to the ex-PM are likely to reach Manali a week before the visit.

No political appointments are scheduled during Vajpayee's stay, but he will receive Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, Governor V S Kokje and other leaders like Shanta Kumar.

The ex-PM may pen down some new poems as well.

Vajpayee stays on the first floor of a cottage owned by Ranjan Bhattacharya's parents and enjoys the scenic views from the veranda.

It is a two-storey cottage about 20km from Manali towards Lahaul and Spiti district.
