A man in Uttar Pradesh has been arrested after allegedly murdering his nine-month-old son with an axe following a domestic dispute, prompting a police investigation into the tragic infanticide.

A man allegedly killed his nine-month-old son with an axe here on Friday, police said, adding that the accused has been arrested.

The incident took place in Madha village under the Kudwar police station area.

 

According to police, the accused, identified as Shambhudyayal Kori, had an argument with his wife Ranju which escalated into violence. During the altercation, he allegedly assaulted his wife and attacked his infant son Shivansh with an axe, killing him on the spot.

Police reached the spot soon after receiving information. Senior officials, including the SP and ASP, also inspected the spot.

Police Investigation and Suspected Mental Instability

SHO Tarun Patel said, "The police team inspected the crime scene and collected evidence. The body has been sent for a postmortem examination. The accused has been taken into custody and is being questioned."

He added that preliminary investigation suggests that the accused may be mentally unstable, and this will be confirmed after medical examination.

Further investigation is underway, police said.
