IB warns of terror attacks on religious places

Terrorists planned to target the Vaishno Devi temple at Jammu, according to the latest report of the Intelligence Bureau.
 
The IB, which intercepted a satellite phone conversation of terrorists around 2 weeks ago, said in its report that a plan was being devised to attack the temple and move to New Delhi and Mumbai in case they failed in their mission.
 
The plan involved infiltrating the border and then hurling grenades on places of religious worship.

Both the Mumbai and Delhi police have been tipped of about the terrorists' plans following which security has been enhanced.

The Mumbai police have been told specifically about a possible attack in the city following the encounter of the two terrorists allegedly belonging to the Harkat-ul_Jihadi outfit based in Bangladesh.

The IB says that the slain terrorists were in Mumbai to set up sleeper cells and had plans of expanding their base. They were also trying to network major cities in India, including Bangalore and Hyderabad with Mumbai, the IB adds.

However, as of now it is not clear whether the attacks were planned by the Lashkar-e-Tayba or HuJI. The IB has also informed that the security along the borders needed to be tightened in the wake of the latest threat.
