External Affairs Minister K Natwar Singh left on Monday for a three-day visit to Bhutan, during which bilateral and other issues of mutual interest will be discussed.

Singh will have an audience with Bhutan's King Jigme Singye Wangchuk and hold discussions with his counterpart Lyonpo Khandu Wangchuk and senior officials of the Royal Government.

The visit is in keeping with the tradition of regular high-level exchanges between India and Bhutan, it was officially stated here. Singh's last visit to Bhutan was in October, 2004.

The visit reflects the strong and cordial relationship between the two neighbours, who share close friendship and mutual trust.

Ways for stepping up cooperation in mutually beneficial sectors including power, infrastructure, roads and bridges, culture, education and health are expected to figure during the talks.
