It was a sad end for the Shah couple, who fell victims to Saturday night's terror attack that killed not only the husband and wife, but also their unborn child.

It looked as if destiny was playing a cruel game with Dr Parek Shah (32) who along with his pregnant wife was killed at the Civil Hospital where one of the 16 serial bomb blasts took place.

According to close friends of the family, 28-year-old Kinjal was waiting the entire day to go to the hospital for her periodic maternity check-up.

"Shah, who was busy in the hospital treating patients didn't get time during the entire day to bring his wife for check up," said a family friend.

Kinjal, who was three months pregnant and lived within walking distance of the hospital, finally went to the hospital where she met her husband.

Tragically, a blast took place in the hospital, killing both Shah, an orthopaedic doctor, and his wife instantly.

It was for the first time that hospitals where initial blasts victims were being treated were targeted by terrorists in the country.

On Saturday, 16 bomb blasts ripped through Ahmedabad, leaving 45 dead and 145 injured.
