Thai authorities have not filed any charges against a man who caused a Bangladeshi airline flight from Kuala Lumpur to Dhaka to make an emergency landing in Bangkok on Tuesday.

Contradicting earlier media reports that the detained man was an Indian national, Airports of Thailand President AM Chana U-Sathaporn told reporters that the man was a Bangladeshi national.

The 25-year-old man took out a knife during an altercation on board the flight, Chana said.

''There were 60 passengers on the flight. It landed after an unruly passenger named Hasan Ali took out a small knife,'' he added.

Thai authorities detained the passenger and searched his belongings but found no suspicious objects.
