Karnataka Tourism Minister Sriramulu, who is widely seen as the man who put a spoke in the transfer of power, resigned from the Karnataka Cabinet on Saturday.

Sriramulu, after putting in his papers, said it was wrong to think that he was against the transfer of power.

He handed over his resignation to BS Yediyurappa, deputy chief minister, who is to take over as chief minister after the power hand-over. He said that he did not want to be seen as the man who hindered the transfer of power.

"I do not want to come in the way of the BJP taking over power," he said.

The resignation comes as a major relief to the BJP as the JD(S) made it clear that there  would be no transfer of power unless action was taken against Sriramulu.
