Mulayam concedes defeat; to put in papers in evening

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav on Friday said he would hand over his resignation to Governor T V Rajeswar in the evening.

Mulayam said he was assessing the results.

Though Mulayam has not sought any appointment with the governor as yet, Raj Bhawan sources said he would be asked to carry until an alternative arrangement was made.

May 14 is the deadline for government formation in the state.

On Thursday, the chief minister had alleged that the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance government had deliberately given only two days for the formation of government.
