A top level source in the Congress on Sunday said the huge setback in Saurashtra was the main cause of Congress's debacle.

The Bharatiya Janata Party is set to win more than two-third of the 58 seats in Saurashtra and Kutch.

While talking off the record, the Congress leader said, "Gujarat is Gujarat."

He also said, "We never expected nor imagined that Saurashtra will cave-in like this."

He added, "We had worked very hard. Nobody could allege that we didn't work. Our candidates were good too. Our cadre was rejuvenated."

When asked then what went wrong, he said, "Modi's popularity swept away all other factors."
