Jayalalithaa terms raids 'political vendetta'

All India Anna Dravida Munnethra Kazhagam supremo Jayalalithaa on Friday termed the raids conducted at the premises of her party colleagues O Pannerselvam and Anitha R Radhakrishnan as "acts of political vendetta".

"I expected this. But they could not get anything from such raids," she told reporters after visiting the office of Tamil eveninger 'Makkal Kurai' on its 34th foundation day.

The Income Tax Department and Tamil Nadu Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption officials raided houses and business establishments of former Chief Minister Pannerselvam and a former Minister Anitha Radhakrishnan.

Raids were conducted at the house of Pannerselvam near Periyakulam, his estate at Kodaikanal, relatives' houses at Lakshmipuram and Mettupatti in Virudhungar district and his bus service office.
