BJP leader L K Advani on Wednesday cancelled the Karnataka leg of his 'Bharat Suraksha yatra' following the death of thespian Rajkumar.

The decision to cancel the Karnataka leg of the yatra was taken after a meeting Advani held with senior party leaders Pramod Mahajan and Ananth Kumar following the report about the 78-year-old actor's demise, BJP sources said.

The yatra would now commence from Ananthpur in Andhra Pradesh on April 16th, they said.

The yatra was scheduled to enter Karnataka this evening from Dhulkhed. Advani was scheduled to address several public meetings during the course of his three-day yatra in Karnataka.

Party leaders are working out the details of his programme for the next three days.

Advani and his entourage would be staying back in Solapur for the day.

Party sources said the yatra's organisers were also apprehensive about any possible violence in the wake of the actor's death.

This along with a state mourning in Karnataka prompted the veteran BJP leader to halt his yatra.

BJP president Rajnath Singh too had to cut short his yatra following the fire tragedy in Meerut.
