No liquor shops near schools in Lucknow

The Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court, on Thursday, directed closure of 53 liquor shops being run
within 100 metres of schools in the state capital.

The Bench comprising Justice A K Yog and Justice R P Yadav passed the order on two public interest litigations stating that there were several liquour shops in the vicinity of the schools, which had a deterimental effect on the children.

The court also directed the state government to file its replies within four weeks.
