The toll in the fire mishap at a fireworks unit near Sivakasi in Tamil Nadu has risen to seven, with two persons succumbing to injuries, police said on Tuesday. The two, who were undergoing treatment for injuries, died at a hospital late on Monday night, they said.

Five persons were charred to death, three on the spot, and two injured when the fire swept through the factory at Kichanayakan Patti, about 60 km from Madurai, on Monday.

The fire broke out due to 'mishandling of fireworks', while they were being dried using a drier. The goods had to be sent to various centres for the festival season immediately. Police said so far, no-one had been arrested in connection with the accident.
