Former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on Thursday accused the United States of playing politics by denying visa to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi [Images].

Talking to media persons in New Delhi, he said, "Modi is an elected chief minister and had been to the US twice earlier. Now a new twist has been given, which smacks of politics by America."
