Two bodies were recovered and one was found floating on Sunday night in the flooded Central Sounda Mine, where 14 miners were trapped on June 15 when gallons of water gushed into the mines, sources in the Central Coalfield Limited said.

The rescue team has recovered the bodies of Harihar Sao and Brij Ram and sent them for postmortem, the sources said.

Additional Superintendent of Police Upendra Kumar said another body was noticed floating but was yet to be retrieved.

CCL sources said the company has granted ex-gratia of Rs 25,000 to the next of kin of the two identified dead miners, besides clearing all their dues. CCL also offered jobs to one of the family members of each.

The rescuers continued the search for other trapped miners.

Meanwhile, the CCL management suspended four officials in connection with the tragedy.
