Painter Altaf, who played up social themes through his art, died of jaundice in Mumbai on Sunday.
He was 62 and is survived by wife Navjot and daughter Saha Altaf.
Altaf took ill in Delhi. After a check-up in Mumbai, he was diagnosed to be suffering from jaundice.
He passed away in Lilavati Hospital.
A group of collectors, artist friends and relatives have planned a condolence meeting.
