I want to be CM: Raj Thackeray

September 08, 2004 01:03 IST

Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray's nephew and party leader Raj Thackeray on Tuesday said he was not averse to becoming Maharashtra chief minister of and could even join electoral politics in the future.

"I aspire to be the CM. There is nothing wrong to aspire in life," Raj said in Mumbai.

"Although the Sena chief has maintained that he will never contest elections in life," he said, "this is not something which is a law in our family."

"Balasaheb may have his own views, but he never imposes them on us," the Sena leader said.

He, however, ruled out speculations that he was likely to contest the forthcoming assembly polls from Dadar in central Mumbai. "Not this time, maybe next time."
