SSC pass girl commits suicide

A teenaged girl, who cleared her SSC examination, allegedly committed suicide after not finding her name in the merit list, police said on Wednesday.

Swati Damodar Bhabre (16) secured 59 per cent marks in the Maharashtra SSC examination, the results of which were declared on Tuesday.

She cut short her life by hanging from the roof in her house in Untkhana, in the southern part of the city.

Meanwhile in Pune, 16-year-old Pooja Shahu allegedly committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling of her house in Gokhale Nagar area after failing in the SSC exam, Chaturshrungi police said on Wednesday.

Pooja had gone to her school to check the results. On returning home, she locked her room from inside and hanged herself on Tuesday.

The girl was rushed to hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival.
