A powerful bomb blast occurred on the premises of a district court near the office of the senior superintendent of police in Amritsar late on Thursday afternoon.

About 15 people were injured in the blast that occurred around 1630 IST.

Windowpanes of nearby offices were damaged and some sheds in the court premises collapsed under the impact of the explosion.

SSP (Amritsar) Kultar Singh, whose office is located barely 50 metres from the blast site, said: "It is not a terrorist crime. This is just an accident."
