August 31, 2004 14:11 IST

Militants on Tuesday attacked Union Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad's brother in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Gulam Abbas Azad was on his way to Doda city from Soti village when militants launched an attack at around 10am, official sources said in Jammu. His personal security officers returned the fire but one of them was critically injured in the encounter.

Army men, posted nearby, rushed to the spot on hearing gunshots, cordoned off the entire area and began a search for the militants.
