Woman dressed as man abducts girl for marriage

April 02, 2004 19:39 IST

It is an abduction story with a difference because the accused is a woman dressed as a man.

Yavatmal-based Suraj Shukla dressed up as a man and posed as a security guard at a local bank allegedly to lure teenager Swati to marry 'him', police said in Akola (Maharashtra) on Friday. The duo later eloped to get married.

Last week, Swati's parents lodged a complaint with the police after she went missing. Further investigations are on.

Police found the duo in Akola roaming around in a suspicious manner. On interrogation, Shukla broke down and confessed that 'he' was not a man but a woman.
