September 27, 2003 19:20 IST

The controversy over Union Human Resource Development Minister Murli Manohar Joshi's resignation in the wake of a Rae Bareili court deciding to frame charges against him in the Babri Masjid demolition case, would be sorted out by Sunday, Bharatiya Janata Party chief M Venkaiah Naidu said on Saturday.

He ruled out any differences among the BJP's top echelon over the issue, saying: "The media has written enough about it but it [the speculation] will come to an end by tomorrow evening."

He clarified that the case against Joshi was not about "moral turpitude or of involvement in a scam or murder."

Asked about the party's stance on the issue, Naidusaid: "We are doing what has to be done." He, however, refused
to elaborate.

Joshi has indicated he is willing to reconsider his decision to quit and is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee when the latter returns on Sunday from a tour of Turkey and the United States.
