RSS leaders meet Kanchi seer

June 30, 2003 10:08 IST

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh leaders K Sudershan and Ram Madhav on Monday called on Kanchi Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswati in Chennai and were closeted with him for about 20 minutes.

Sudershan, after the meeting, described it as a 'courtesy call'.

He refused to comment on the package evolved by the Shankaracharya to solve the Ayodhya dispute, saying he was not aware of its contents.

The RSS will discuss the Ayodhya issue at its meeting to be held in Kanyakumari on Tuesday, he said.

Soon after the meeting, the seer left for Kancheepuram.

Jayendra Saraswati had recently sent a fresh proposal to the All India Muslim Personal Law Board for solving the dispute.
