Police conducts voice tests of Surendra Shetty

June 22, 2003 21:40 IST

The police on Sunday conducted voice tests of Surendra Shetty, father of actress Shilpa Shetty and co-accused in an extortion case, a top police official said in Ahmedabad.

"Voice spectrography test reports of Shetty would be sought from Forensic Science Laboratory, Ahmedabad in a few days but as of now we are satisfied with what we recorded today," he said.

Shetty was asked to read out from certain portions of the transcripts of recorded conversations of his own alleged conversation with Pankaj Agarwal, owner of Praful Sarees.

"The recordings went on for about an hour and half and we are satisfied with the content we got. We would be sending the tapes to FSL soon," he said.

The Surat police had reportedly recorded conversations between Agarwal and Shetty in which the latter had demanded money due to his actress daughter.

Surendra was taken on a three-day police remand till June 24 and is likely to be produced in the Chief Judicial Magistrate's court on June 24 on expiry of police remand, the official added.
