Vijay Desai, an associate of Abdul Karim Telgi, prime accused in the stamp paper scam, was on Tuesday remanded to police custody till January 6.

Desai, who allegedly acted as marketing manager of Telgi's syndicate and was arrested on Monday by the Special Investigating Team, was produced before Pune Judicial Magistrate First Class M N Bondre for remand.

Desai had been absconding since the city police exposed the racket one-and-a half-years ago. He is the 63rd person to be arrested in this case.
