Togadia in judicial custody for two days

April 14, 2003 16:46 IST

An Ajmer court on Monday rejected the bail application of Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Pravin Togadia and sent him to judicial custody for two days.

Police wanted custody of the VHP leader, who was arrested on Sunday night for defying prohibitory orders and distributing tridents to Bajrang Dal activists, but Magistrate Lata Gaur turned down the plea.

The Rajasthan government has banned tridents in the state.

Togadia will now be produced before the court on April 16, District Collector Niranjan Arya said.
