Director Mani Ratnam was on Thursday admitted to a hospital after he suffered chest pain shortly before the closing ceremony of the International Film Festival of India in Goa.
"He is stable now. He experienced chest pain due to exertion and high blood pressure but that has now been brought under control through medicines. Ratnam would be confined to the ICU for the next two days," Uday Kanolkar, who examined the 48-year-old director at the Apollo Victor Hospital in Margao, said.
"It was angina which was caused due to extreme exertion. I have also had a look at the initial ECG and there is no sign to point to heart attack. We shall have to assess his condition and then decide whether he can be moved out of the ICU," he added.
