IIT goes global!

What: IIT Bombay and the National University of Singapore will launch joint Master's and Doctoral degree programmes.

This is the first time that IIT-B will offer a joint degree with a foreign country.  

What will this mean?

~ NUS and IITB will work on programmes leading to a joint MS and PhD degrees in Advanced Engineering Materials, training human resource relevant to a number of industrial sectors in both countries.

~ The Advanced Engineering Materials programme aims to increase the depth and breadth of engineering materials for tomorrow's consumer and environment. It covers:

  • Nanostructures
  • Hybrids and composites
  • Micro-fabrication and micro devices
  • Biomaterials
  • Electronic materials
  • Chemical engineering materials
  • Building materials
  • Tribology 

~ The programmes will draw heavily on existing NUS and IITB infrastructure and course modules.

~ This also means the costs of mounting this joint programme will be reduced.

~ The programme is open to students from engineering schools in India, China, Singapore and the rest of the ASEAN region.

Selection method

~ Selection will be based on the following tests:

  • GATE (IITs graduate admission test in engineering)
  • GRE
  • TOEFL (where applicable) scores
  • Interview

~ You are required to have an engineering or science background.
