Disgraced former captain Mohammad Azharuddin figures in a list of prominent cricketers and officials to be honoured at a Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) function next month.

"An invitation has been sent to him," the BCCI's administrative head Ratnakar Shetty said on Thursday.

Azharuddin was one of three international captains, along with South African Hansie Cronje and Pakistan's Salim Malik, to be banned for life in 2000 after a match-fixing

scandal.

A stylish middle-order batsman, Azharuddin, 43, played in 99 Tests and 334 one-dayers. The function in Mumbai on Nov. 4 marks the opening of the board's new headquarters.
